In late 2022, the Google Pixel 7 and the iPhone 14 could be two of the most anticipated smartphones. There is still a long way to go before the next Google flagship arrives in late 2022, But leaks have already started to floor, and it is in no way too early to begin thinking about what we want from it.
A wish list of features and improvements we hope the Pixel 7 (and Pixel 7 Pro) will include in order to make it Google's best smartphone yet.

What am I referring to? One of Google's upcoming smartphones
When are we able to anticipate to see it in stores? Most likely, in the fall of 2022.

How much will the Google Pixel 7 cost when it goes on sale in the fall?
On or around October 2022, we can expect Google to make an announcement regarding the Pixel 7. There are not any rumors approximately that, but every preceding version become unveiled in October in their launch year, except for the Google Pixel five, which become unveiled on September 30 – so it was almost October when it was announced.
A week or two after the Pixel 7 launch is expected, if past performance is any indication. However, it will most likely happen before the end of October 2022, regardless of when the phone is officially introduced.
As for the price, we can expect it to be in the same ballpark as the Pixel 6 range. In comparison, the Pixel 6 Pro starts at $899/£849/AU $1,299/£599 for the basic model.
Revelations and rumors
According to a few reports, the second generation of the Google Tensor chipset, which we'll call Tensor 2 for convenience, may be powering the new Pixel 7 from Google.
According to Android code, there may be point out of a "Cloudripper," which is assumed to be a baseboard or developer board for the Pixel 7.
Google patented an underneath-display digital camera technology in August 2021, and some have speculated that it can be equipped for the Pixel 7.
It's possible that this could be one of the next-generation smartphones to feature an "invisible" selfie camera.
However, patents don't always get used, so it's possible this technology is just an experiment at Google headquarters. We won't know for sure until we see an under-display camera on a Pixel phone, which is currently in development.
The Google Camera code for the Pixel 7 was discovered by XDA Developers before the Pixel 6 line even went on sale in early 2016. codenamed "pipit" and only one model is mentioned in reference to the upcoming phone, which could indicate that the Pixel 7 Pro isn't coming.
The code within the app suggests that the Pixel 7 ought to have most of the same digicam abilities because the Pixel 6, and that it's going to have an ultra-good sized lens, but there may be no mention of a telephoto one. According to the supply, it's too early to tell if this model of the Google Camera app clearly lists Pixel 7 capabilities, plenty much less that the list is entire.
What are we hoping for
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are exciting, but they're not perfect, so we'd like to see the following changes implemented in the Pixel 7 range.
Would you like more time between charges on your phone?
Battery life was a major gripe for both the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro in our reviews, which you can read here. However, it isn't terrible, but it could be a lot better.
In terms of the Pixel 7 line, we'd like to see a bigger improvement in battery life. Because Google's Pixel phones run on a custom chipset and custom software that was supposedly built from the ground up for them, we can assume that the Pixel lineup will be power efficient.
A larger battery can also be used if the current one isn't sufficient. Either way, we don't want to be concerned about running out of juice before the day is done.
Is it possible to have more power
One of the most exciting features of the Pixel 6 is its custom Google Tensor chipset, which replaces Qualcomm's off-the-shelf chipset at the device's core.
In spite of this, Google has made a big deal out of Tensor, but its performance in benchmark tests isn't up to snuff.
This doesn't mean benchmark results are everything, but the Google Tensor 2 needs to show more raw power in order to compete with the best rival chips.
In-depth assistance
It had been rumored that Google would offer five years of Android updates for the Pixel 6 range, but in practice it only promised five years of security patches, along with three years of Android updates.
While that's at least as good as Android's competitors, it's no match for iPhones, which can sometimes get more than five years of operating system updates.
With Google making its own chipset, other companies can no longer use the chipset as an excuse because the chipset maker must also support updates for an extended period. Because there is no reason for it, we will be extremely disappointed if the Pixel 7 isn't supported for a long time.
Maybe a better fingerprint scanner
In our Pixel 6 Pro review, we noted that the implementation of the under-display fingerprint scanner on the Pixel 6 Pro was far from ideal.
It took a few tries to get it to unlock, which we attribute to the fact that it's pickier about where you place your finger than other phones. The fingerprint scanner on the Pixel 7 should be faster and more reliable because of this.
Zooming in on something for a longer period of time
A telephoto lens is absent from the Pixel 6 and the Pixel 6 Pro, and the latter's zoom is limited to four times.
As with the Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra, we'd like to see a 10x zoom option on the Pixel 7 (or Pixel 7 Pro, if not that). It's not enough for us to have a 10x zoom – we also want optical zooms of 2x and 3x, as well as the ability to optically zoom up to 10x.
